The Hartford United U-14 boys team took 1st place at the 7th annual Dhaliwal/Mequon United Fall Cup tournament held in Mequon, WI on October 15-16, 2005.
Giving up only one goal in the preliminary rounds, Hartford entered the Red Division Championship game by continuing to shut down opponents’ scoring. Good ball control and use of both sides of the field enabled Hartford to control the tempo for most of the qualifying games. The Championship game against a strong determined Mequon Team started on a bad note when Mequon scored first. Hartford kept their wits and heads up by stepping up the intensity. The game was tied 1-1 before long and continued until the last 10 minutes of the game when a very nice through ball allowed Hartford to score their second goal. Hartford beefed up the defensive line expecting a strong effort by the Mequon team. Fans were not disappointed by the quality and effort of both teams as Hartford withstood multiple attacks to win the Red Division Championship by a 2-1 score.
Game results:
